- Location: Hai Phong City, vietnam
We are seeking a Conservation & Ecological Restoration Lead to manage the physical reclamation and preservation of our natural habitats. This role is a specialized application of the "muck and gut" philosophy: it requires digging into the environmental foundation of our sites to remove invasive elements, stabilize ecosystems, and restore degraded habitats to a resilient, self-sustaining state. If you possess a deep understanding of ecological dynamics, a rigorous approach to field remediation, and the physical endurance to manage complex restoration projects in challenging outdoor environments, this is an outstanding opportunity to drive environmental stewardship and long-term land resilience.
Key Responsibilities
Site Assessment & Diagnostics: Conduct field-level inspections to identify ecological stressors, contamination, invasive species, and structural vulnerabilities within our protected lands.
Field Remediation (Muck and Gut): Lead hands-on efforts to "strip and reset" degraded areas—removing invasive overgrowth, clearing accumulated debris, and addressing soil or water contamination to prepare for restoration.
Habitat Reconstruction: Design and implement restoration strategies, including the replanting of native flora, stabilization of waterways, and creation of physical habitats that support local biodiversity.
Operational Management: Direct the use of specialized field equipment, manage site-specific logistics for restorative materials (seeds, soil, erosion control barriers), and oversee volunteer or contractor field teams.
Long-Term Stewardship: Establish ongoing maintenance protocols to monitor the health of restored habitats and intervene early when environmental shifts or human impact threaten stability.
Compliance & Monitoring: Ensure all restoration activities align with regional environmental policies, wildlife protection mandates, and conservation certifications.
Data-Driven Reporting: Maintain meticulous records of environmental changes, species counts, and project milestones to support conservation funding, grant compliance, and research initiatives.
Requirements & Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, Conservation Biology, or a related field; certifications in restoration ecology or land management are highly preferred.
Experience: 3–5 years of experience in hands-on conservation work, ecological restoration, or environmental field management.
Technical Skills:
Strong proficiency in botanical identification, soil health analysis, and ecosystem mapping tools (GIS).
Practical experience with heavy manual labor, field tools, and landscape-level restoration equipment.
Deep understanding of regional ecology and the regulatory framework surrounding protected natural habitats.
Personal Attributes:
Ecological Grit: A willingness to work in diverse, often harsh, field conditions to achieve long-term environmental outcomes.
Analytical Vision: The ability to see the "big picture" of an ecosystem while managing the minute, dirty details of site-specific remediation.
Patience & Persistence: Restoration is a long-term goal; the ideal candidate balances the urgency of "muck and gut" intervention with the slow, steady pace of ecological recovery.
Communication: Ability to advocate for the necessity of "messy" but critical conservation work to stakeholders, donors, or the public.
